I grew up on the West Rand of Johannesburg. As a young child our family had a caravan and I was blessed in being able to see a bit of our beautiful country.
After school I spent a year and a bit in the UK. This was truly a life changing time of my life – I learned to appreciate a lot of things I always took for granted.
Being a huge History lover I adored the feeling of oldness, seeing old buildings, or even just the feel of cobbled roads under my feet.
Upon returning to South Africa I moved down to Durban to work with my uncle in his touring company.
This is where my love of taking photos really took off. While taking tourists all over KwaZulu Natal I was lucky enough to experience some of the incredible things that this part of South Africa has to offer.
I love the bush, going on safari and hiking in the mountains – hence wildlife and landscape photography are my favourites.
The Karoo is probably my favourite part of our country… there is just something special in the quiet.
Oh yes, and of course our two little dogs, possibly the most photographed pets in the world!!!
I am also a huge cricket fan, so I really enjoy photographing sporting events.
I take photos for their power to stir up memories, they are a way to relive special moments in our lives.
“Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.“
“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. ”Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky
